for licku

a small thing i built, so this doesn't get lost in translation again.

that night, my fear got loud before my heart could listen.

you told me something I needed to hear...

"the problem was never you."

it was how i handled it.

Dear Licku,

I keep coming back to something you said... misunderstanding is never the problem, it's how we handle it. You were right. I don't just want to agree and move on, I actually want to sit with that.

When those messages didn't land the way you meant them, I didn't wait for the truth. My mind just ran ahead and filled the quiet with the worst version of you, of us. I got loud and hurt before I even tried to understand, and that's on me... not on the misunderstanding.

You kept trying to bring me back to the one thing that actually mattered, not who I am, but what I did in that moment. You said it plainly, more than once. The problem was never you. I heard it that night. I understood it after.

I saw your eyes go wet when my voice got sharp, and that's not something small. I know how much it already takes for you to let yourself feel this much for someone. I made a hard thing harder, on a night you deserved easier.

So here's what I actually want you to know, past the sorry... I heard what you were really asking for. When something feels wrong, don't react first, talk to me first. It's not complicated. I just have to actually choose it, especially when it's hardest to.

You've already changed how I show up. Taught me to pause before I assume, to ask instead of decide, to remember love is a conversation too, not just a feeling. I don't want to just get better at saying sorry. I want to get better at asking.

And through all of this, I keep thinking about the nights we'd talk till 2am about absolutely nothing and everything... half asleep, laughing at something dumb, neither of us wanting to be the one to hang up first. That's the us I want to protect. One rough night doesn't get to take that from me, and I won't let it take it from you either.

So this isn't just an apology. It's me saying I want more of those midnight talks. I hope we keep growing together... through the messy parts, not just the easy ones. Getting better at this, at us, one honest conversation at a time.

I do want to continue, even if there will be tough and rough phases. Especially because there will be.

And through all of it... I love you. That part never once wavered, not for a second.

I'm sorry, Licku. Truly. And I'm listening... for real, this time, before I react.

i'll ask, not assume.

Yours,

Chinu

Love You and Sorry
